I support helmets and think people who bomb without them are jackasses, HOWEVER we do not tell people what to do at zoobomb. Period.

we cant tell ya what to do at zoobomb, but I second that you are a fucking idiot if your bombing without a helmet. They are so readily available and there is not a good reason to not wear one.
I dont care how cool you think you look without one, it looks stupid to the rest of us. They save your brain, its important.
I'd be dead right now if I didnt bomb with a full face on.

Im no helmet guy (sometimes) and your all right about the point (mostly) I appreciate the love and concern shared but more than all of that I am really bad at being told what to do.......but I love you all more than words could express

if you are a smart enough person you'd see that it's in
your
best interest to wear a helmet.

“wait, what are you talking about, WE decided? MY best interests? How do you know what MY best interest is? How can you say what MY best interest is? What are you trying to say? I'M crazy? When I went to YOUR schools, I went to YOUR churches, I went to YOUR institutional learning facilities. So how can you say I'M crazy?”
They say they're gonna fix my brain. Alleviate my suffering and my pain.
But by the time they fix my head. Mentally I'll be dead.
I'm not crazy - institutionalized
You're the one who's crazy - institutionalized
You're driving me crazy - institutionalized
They stuck me in an institution, said it was the only solution
To give me the needed professional help, to protect me from the enemy, myself.
Doesn't matter, I'll probably get hit by a car anyways.
I couldn't help myself :B

i'm a stickler about helmets but that's probably because my mom was(runs in the family). it would suck for you to crack your head open because you weren't wearing a helmet, but it would really suck for your friends and family.
i wear a helmet because:
a) i want to do the things i do for a long time
b) i don't want to knock myself retarded and then become a burden on my family and friends
c) helmets make you go faster
i realize that yelling at people to put a helmet on is not an effective way of being helmet advocate. that's why i usually try to reason with people instead of force them. the only time i make people to wear a helmet is when i'm driving them around(i don't like making trips to the hospital).

years ago, when i actually bombed, some asshole who'd never bombed before ran into my back wheel (when we were both jonesing for second, first got there 5 seconds before, we were flying). i skidded across the street on my shoulder and head, leaving a trail of pink feathers across the road and splitting part of my helmet all the way through. my only injuries? fleshwounds. and i was a little woozy.
the hospital isn't so fun.
but wandering around safeway a few minutes before they close with blood dripping down from your knees while acquiring more of the essentials (gauze, medical tape, hydrogen peroxide, etc) freaking everyone else out is.
and to add to this... the ultimate stupidity that i see (and this is all over the place, not just zoobomb) is people who carry their helmets when they're riding bikes and don't wear them. you must be really bored if you're going to flirt with irony like that.

I'm actually pretty impressed with the number of full-face helmets I see on the hill these days. You can spot the folks that have been doing it a while, 'cause they generally have the most safety gear. I got tired of ripped clothes and bloody knees that stick to the sheets for days, so I started wearing knee and elbow pads too. They pay for themselves after just a couple of crashes with the money you save not buying a weeks worth of tape and bandages. That being said, it is Zoobomb, so I'm not gonna insist that anyone wear gear, I'll just make a strong recommendation based on my five years of experience.
Oh yeah, safety gear makes you faster too.
